Doug Peterson was born and raised in Bellevue, Washington. He pursued an entrepreneurial path and has been self-employed for over 40 years. He has owned 8 businesses and in 2001, he began coaching and mentoring high-income earners to improve business results and find more satisfaction in life. Doug noticed that several of his mentoring clients had achieved success in their field, however their personal finances were affecting their health, marriage and/or business.
At this stage of his life, Doug wanted to make a bigger contribution to his client’s lives. In 2018, he founded Get Priorities Straight (GPS) to help individuals, couples, and business owners’ lives by helping them with a system to proactively manage their money. GPS helps you develop innovative personal spending and savings habits to gain financial peace of mind.
Doug has helped clients going through a divorce understand where their money has been going, untangling finances and charting a path moving forward. Often this includes debt restructuring and helping improve credit scores. The biggest benefit is to implement a system to proactively decide where your money is going before you spend it to build a foundation with confidence.
He can also help when businesses are involved to understand your finances more clearly and can often identify income from business paid expenses that need to be part of the settlement equation.
His comprehensive processes and tools give you clarity and insight into your financial situation, so your funds support the priorities and values that drive you. These habits are lifelong to have more control, reduce stress, and enjoy more of what life has to offer.
Doug has been married for 40 years and has three adult children, a daughter in law and two grandchildren. When he is not spending time with his family and friends, you can find Doug singing karaoke, crabbing, biking, and officiating weddings (15 at the time this was written).
